Blackberry for Government

February 23, 2011 By Gary Marston

All local government organisations face pressure to make savings while improving public services. The BlackBerry® wireless platform provides local government with a compelling way to improve individual worker productivity, effect process transformation, make public service provision much more visible and deliver cost savings, simply by mobilising existing technology investments on a secure and highly usable platform.

BlackBerry® smartphones are being used by local government workers to access key applications ranging from mobile reporting of issues like licensing, inspection and incident reporting, to panic button applications for vulnerable lone workers. Learn more here…

Mobile & Flexible Working. How do you make it happen? (West Berkshire CC) – Gail Kirby, Director, Flexility

June 23, 2009 By Gary Marston Leave a Comment

Like many local authority organisations there was widespread recognition across West Berkshire Council that mobile and flexible working could deliver a triple win, in terms of benefits to the organisation, its customers and employees. The challenge the Council faced was ‘how to make it happen’. This slideset looks at the “Timelord” project and  explores the feasibility phase that West Berkshire County Council went through in 2008 to understand the work-style requirements for different roles across the Council. The council is now in the second of three phases of deployment, with mobile and flexible working deployed across the majority of the Council by December 2010.

  • Defining the technology requirements
  • Develop the business case for making the change
  • Creating the right level of employee engagement to create the momentum
